From Coach Radcliffe:

Saturday, the Lady Gators played a stellar game, but came up a little short in a 4-1 loss to number 15 Hereford.  Last year, the Bulls stomped Perry Hall 9-0 as a result of many walks and errors.  This time the defense came up big to keep the game close, as left fielder Lauren Stumme, third baseman Kelli Streett, first baseman Abby Hollen and pitcher Miranda Lobus all made very nice plays to help snuff out Bull rallies.  Second baseman Emily Streett made an outstanding web-gem diving play on a hot smash up the middle to get a key out at second base.  However, walks were the undoing once again as they directly led to 3 of the 4 Hereford runs.  Perry Hall nearly took the lead in the fourth, as Brooke Powers beat out an infield hit.  Brittany Kingery smashed a deep fly to center that easily would’ve gone over the hill for a homer, but the center fielder hauled it in with a great grab.  The Gators trailed just 2-0 in the fifth, when Hollen reached on an error.  Emily Street roped a deep fly ball to left to score Hollen, but that was the Gators’ last gasp.  The Gators host Aberdeen on Thursday.
