Springbrook 0

Goals:  PH: Liberto (2)

Saves:  PH:  Kroll 3
SB: unavailable:  11

Summary:

Senior Nate Liberto scored twice to lead the Perry Hall Gators to their second consecutive Region 4A North title.  The first goal came 12 minutes in when Rob Allman ran onto a flicked head ball by James Canoles, beat two Springbrook defenders to the endline and drove the ball back into the box.  Liberto timed his run perfectly and finished with a hard, low shot to the corner.

From that point forward, Perry Hall was able to control the midfield with Justin Ornelas, Matt Holtschneider and Liberto winning the middle of the field and playing  to the wide players.  After several close opportunities that were either saved or missed slightly wide, the game resulted in a 1-0 halftime lead from the Gators.

Perry Hall continued to pressure in the second half.  Senior midfielder Alex Holtschneider was able to get a cross into Allman in the first five minutes of the half, which was headed just wide.  Moments later, Allman again took on the Springbrook defense and after beating Springbrook defender Breadon Tock, Allman was fouled just outside the box.  Justin Ornelas hit a sharp drive into the box that connected with Nate Liberto’s run and was volleyed into the back of the net.

The back four of Ornelas, Todd Brendel, Kyle Smith and Jason Stump were able to keep Springbrook forward Andrew Nelson in check for the entire game. In doing so, Perry Hall was able to outshoot the visiting Blue Devils 21-4.
